#Russia: Price drop for methionine
The price for methionine in Russia decreased by 5% in April 2018 and was about 2.5-2.6 euro/kg at the end of the month. This is according to data from FeedLot.ru.
Approximately 8,000 tons of this amino acid were imported to Russia during four months of 2018, which is 17% (1,600 tons) less than imported during the period from January to April 2017. Export of Russian methionine produced by Volzhsky Orgsyntez during the first 4 months of 2018 amounted to about 2,500 tons.
More tryptophan imported
More than 260 tons of tryptophan to Russia was imported from January to April 2018, which is 57% (160 tons) more than during the same period of 2017. The Russian price for this amino acid was more than 13-14 euros/kg in April 2018. According to FeedLot.ru data the average price for threonine in Russia was about 1.4-1.5 euro/kg in April 2018, which is 10% more than March 2018. China is the main supplier of threonine to Russia. It accounts for more than 98% of total amount of threonine present on the Russian market. About 10,000 tons of threonine was imported to Russia between January to April 2018, which is 4% (380 tons) less than during the same period of 2017.
More production capacity build in Russia
A project to construct a plant for the production of essential amino acids L-valine, L-threonine and L-tryptophan was announced at the end of April 2018 in Russia. This plant will have a capacity of up to 20,000 tons. According to Arnika Group, the capacities of the 3 biomedical plants Aminositez will be able to cover up to 50% of the Russian’s demand for these amino acids. It was decided that these enterprises would be located in the territory of the advanced development area Nadezhdinskaya in the Far East region of the Russian Federation.
Price decrease lysine
In according with FeedLot.ru data the average price for lysine in Russia at the end of April 2018 was about 1.8-2.0 euro/kg, depending on the size of the shipment and payment terms. The price decreased by 1.5% in April 2018 as compared to March 2018. More than 20,0000 tons of lysine was imported to Russia during four months of 2018. This is 3% (730 tons) less than it was imported during the period from January to April 2017. Indonesia is one of the key suppliers of lysine to Russia, with a share of almost 50%.
