Chicken Being Distributed to Parwan Women

AFGHANISTAN – Chickens and breeding equipment worth 35 million afghanis are being distributed to more than 2,200 women in central Parwan province, an official said on Thursday.

AFGHANISTAN – Chickens and breeding equipment worth 35 million afghanis are being distributed to more than 2,200 women in central Parwan province, an official said on Thursday.

According to Pajhwok, Abdul Karim Farzam, director of agriculture and livestock, said the chickens and feed were being given to deserving women in Jabalus Saraj and Bagram districts.

He said the project costing 35 million afghanis was being funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in partnership with Community Livestock and Agriculture Programme (CLAP).

According to the director, each of the 2,200 women would receive 15 chickens with 52 kilograms of chicken feed and breeding equipment. The project will take one week to complete.

Beneficiaries of the programme are pleased to receive assistance.

Shaimma, a resident of Mousam area who received 15 chickens, said: “I am very happy with this assistance, which will benefit us economically and I will no longer be unemployed.”

The department informed that about 6,000 women had received chickens with feed and other equipment in Saydkhel, Salang, Bagram and Jabalus Saraj districts this year.
