Lauren Moulden, director of human resources, Keystone Foods

Lauren Moulden, director of human resources, Keystone Foods, discussed how to best manage time in a tech overloaded world.

“The bad news is that time flies. The good news, though, is that you are the pilot. You control your own sequence of events, which is in no one else’s hands but your own.

“You cannot manage time; you cannot stop it. What we think of as time management is actually life management.

“Learning to set priorities is a necessary skill for success at work, home and life,” observed Ms Moulden.

Lauren Arbogast, poultry farmer and agriculture professional, Arbogast Farms, shared why our agriculture story matters, especially in a digital world.

She encouraged attendees to find ways to tell their story in everyday life, in a way that is bold and possibly uncomfortable, through writing, social media and legislative engagement.

“People do not know what we do and why we do it. You may think people already know you or are not interested in your life and the story you have to tell, but people are interested.

“To your friends outside of agriculture, you are the face of food and agriculture,” Ms Arbogast commented.

In her presentation on Communicating with Confidence, Kathryn Danko-Lord, senior director of learning and development for Perdue Farms, provided sample techniques, ranging from body language to self-talk, that can help people be more confident in their daily communications.

She also warned attendees to be aware of falling into the trap of ‘impostor syndrome’.

She explained that impostor syndrome is basically high achieving people that feel they are a fake and do not deserve where they are in life and in their career.

Exclaimed Ms Danko-Lord, “Stop comparing yourself to others. Own your own successes. Take a look at what you do well and be proud of it.”
