A team of Aviagen® executives received first-hand insights into the current Egyptian poultry market and planned future strategies and cooperation on a recent visit to Wadi Poultry, the Ross® distributor for the country.
Aviagen’s delegation included Tom Exley, president, international business; Michael Garden, business manager, Middle East and Africa (MEA) and Bulent Tanyildizi, international commercial manager, Ross MEA. During the visit, they met with a number of key senior Wadi Group personnel, including Tony Freiji, CEO; Ramzi Nasrallah, vice president; and Puzant Dakessian, chief poultry sector.
Exley presented a global update highlighting Aviagen’s commitment to continued investment and discussing key industry issues and initiatives such as UK compartmentalization. Wadi provided information to Aviagen’s executive team on its vision for the Ross brand in Egypt over the next 10 years, and the role the Ross 308 will play to meet the needs of is the growing market, with higher chicken consumption estimated, as well as a gradual move from live bird sales to processing.
Wadi also informed Aviagen on the progress of its new state-of-the-art, 100,000 grandparent farm being built in Tushka. The new facility will meet the highest biosecurity standards and include modern ventilation systems designed to prevent viruses such as avian influenza, bringing a higher level of poultry management and innovated poultry housing to Egypt than has ever existed.
